Anxiety.

We all experience some level of anxiety at different points in our lives.  Whether
we feel anxious about a certain life event or whether we are propelled into a
life-threatening situation, our brain and body react on a physiological level.  In
many ways, anxiety is an adaptive, or helpful, response.  It serves as an internal,
physical warning about what it happening in the external world and can motivate
us to pay attention and take action.

When anxiety is no longer a response that is helpful but rather one that harms,
when it isn't temporary but chronic and debilitating, it can severely interfere with
living life.   When anxiety overwhelms, it becomes hard to function at all.

There are different kinds of disorders associated with anxiety.  Some people
have a generalized sense of anxiety, others obsessive thoughts and compulsive
behaviors, while others panic attacks and fear of certain social situations.  Our
thinking affects anxiety, and often can make it worse.

With proper guidance and support, people are able to return their body and mind
to a healthy, balanced state. Psychotherapy can help people learn to understand
their anxiety, learn to develop coping skills, and learn to analyze their thinking
patterns, so they can overcome it successfully.
