SPECIALTIES: DECISION-MAKING

Decision-making.

Life is full of decisions.  Some quite small and seemingly unimportant, and others quite
overwhelming and seemingly major life events within themselves.  Some people experience a
great level of anxiety at any level of decision making, as decision making calls upon many part
of ourselves: our sense of self-esteem (will we make the right decision? are we smart
enough?), our sense of our self-worth (am I really worth it to take time to consider this
decision?), our sense of planning, our sense of our future (the what-if's), and our sense of
safety in the world, as each decision does bring us to a new and different place of being.  On
the other hand, some people reject any thought process or emotional check-in related to
decisions simply to avoid the anxiety that introspection and contemplation evokes.

Making decisions, and the process of decision-making, is something that can be worked on
and worked out to a place where individuals feel confident and secure.  We can learn to
decide, we can choose to decide, and really, we can "decide to decide" to make decisions and
choices differently in our lives.  Therapy can help individuals make choices that are
well-thought out yet not so explicit that their is no flexibility.  When we all make decisions, it is
helpful for us to have a method and a level of comfort with how we will go about making
change in our life.  If you have come to a conclusion that your decision-making skills could use
some work, talking to a professional who is informed and can guide you can be very helpful.

Decide to decide to feel comfortable in your decision-making abilities by acknowledging,
working through, and moving beyond the issues that cause us to get in our own way.
